This week we are going to continue our research (gathering of information) and learnn how to use PowerPoint.

1. Open Internet Explorer

2. Go to the Documents Folder and open your Microsoft Word Notes file.

3. Look a the bottom menu bar on your computer. Practice toggling between your notes file and Internet Explore.

4. Use Microsoft Word to type answers to your questions and my topics. Be sure to copy and paste the Location (Web Address or URL) of the site along with the name of the Web site above the information. You will need this for your bibliography (list of where you got your information)

5. Use these Web sites to look for information:

Downloding Images from the Internet

1. Create a Folder in the Documents Folder.

  • Label it with your name.
  • Drag your MS Word Notes document into this folder

2. Go to a Web site that allows you to download pictures You can find this by going to Downloader in Yahooligans

3. Find a picture you want to put into your project

4. Click on the picture with your RIGHT mouse button.

5. Highlight the words DOWNLOAD IMAGE TO DISK

6. Go to the Documents folder and open your folder

7. Save the picture in your folder.

8. Copy the URL and name of the image into your notes.


  1. Open Microsoft PowerPoint.
  2. Choose Blank Presentation
  3. Click twice on the top left box. This will be your title page.
  4. Click on FORMAT in the top menu bar.
  5. Select BACKGROUND
  6. Click on the triangle next to the rectangular box under the picture.
  7. Select FILL EFFECTS
  8. Click on TWO COLORS
  9. Select Color 1 and Color 2.
  10. Choose a shading style
  11. Click on OK
  12. Click on APPLY TO ALL
  13. Click in the box that says: CLICK TO ADD TITLE
  14. Type the title of your project
  15. Click in the box that says: CLICK TO ADD SUBTITLE
  16. Type the names of your group members (First name only)
  17. Click on INSERT and choose NEW SLIDE
  18. Click two times on the second box in the top row.
  19. Where it says CLICK TO ADD TITLE type HISTORY.
  20. Next we will look at transitions.
  21. Go to SLIDE SHOW in the top menu bar and select TRANSITIONS
  22. Play with the various tranisitions. Select a transition you like and click on APPLY TO ALL.
  23. Save your PowerPoint into your folder.
  24. Next week we will learn more cool things to do with PowerPoint.
